Enchanting Apo Island and Swimming with the Turtles

I sat alone in a foodcourt at the moment after having my consultancy job a few hours ago. Then I thought of the Christmas break days from now. I was locked in my thought when I remembered the enchanting Apo Island in Negros Oriental.

After our Siquijor excursion, the group and I prepared the next day for Apo Island. I was grateful of the opportunity. The Manila guy opened up my heart and my mind to never stop chasing my dreams and to never stop traveling. He simply made it clear to me that no matter what the situation is like, there is always comfort when one ventures to a new place.

"All worth the trip"

Apo Island is located in Zamboangita, Negros Oriental. I have heard a lot about Apo Island being one of the best destinations to scuba dive and to snorkel. As it is also the place for turtle watching. But I never had a chance to visit the island until this year.

The Morning Waves
At approximately 9 in the morning, our group was on our way to Apo Island. It was crossing the island that made our travel beginning to shape its excitement. Big waves greeted us in the middle of the trench before reaching Apo. However soaked and wet we maybe, the beauty of the sea and its hues made everything worth it.

"Its black sand glistens like with sprinkled silvers"

Up Close with the Gentle Reptile
After a short briefing and re-grouping, we had our chance to swim together with the sea turtles. It was a low tide when we started snorkelling. I couldn't contain my joy when I saw not just one turtle but three more freely swimming underwater. Admittedly, I was a bit scared to get closer so I settled myself meters away from these gentle creatures. Looking at them in a distance overwhelmed my heart.

Coral Watching
We had our lunch after watching the sea turtles. Unbelievably, I decided to stay in the pumpboat and would prefer waiting for the rest of the group to continue for coral-watching. Then, I suddenly changed my mind. It was a one-time opportunity. Besides, however similar the concept what a coral is, no scenery is absolutely the same. After convincing myself, I then joined the group for coral-watching.

And behold! The beauty of the underwater is far beyond my words could describe. The corals are so diverse while forming a huge colony under the sea. I couldn't figure the names of the corals but seeing them upclose and making-up the water kingdom is a powerful message that the Earth is an enormous beauty even underwater.

An hour of snorkelling opened up wonders and contentment in my spirit that even until now, especially when I feel lonely, I would only reminisce the calm and quiet haven of the water world. That somehow, there is a harmonious solitude in a diverse community.
