Completing the Weekly Content Challenge

Admittedly, I have been writing for quite sometime since 2010. I did not know it was called "blogging" then but I used to write down my thoughts to remind my future self about my past experiences. Fast forward to 2018, I had the courage to join a weekly content challenge. I was, at first, hesitant but I thought of it as my motivation to write and hone my writing skills. Finally, on December 27, 2018, the 52-Week Challenge gave me a triumphant perspective when I completed it. Now, here I am again gauging my self and starting a new Weekly Content Challenge once again.

How I was able to complete the challenge? I was motivated by the acronym SUCCESS.

S-ee your goals. This relates to Habit 3, "Begin with the End in Mind". The challenge started in January 1, 2018 and would end in December 27, 2018. Yes, it was longer than this year's 16 Weeks. During that time, I saw my self reaching my goals and started thinking on how complete one blog at a time. Eventually, I developed a habit of writing a certain time and day of the week and publishing it the next day.

U-nderstand the obstacle. There were instances when I was faced with great difficulties especially whenever I was away from the city, and it was difficult for me to find any internet connection. Once, I asked someone to publish the article for me which was already written because I suddenly lose my internet connection.

C-reate a positive mental picture. I was traveling from Bohol to Cebu by sea that my connection wasn't that good plus it was already 2 hours before the deadline that I posted my article. I almost panicked but self-talking did me a great favor to be positive and managed to pull myself off and successfully posted my week's blog before the comment closed.

C-lear your mind from doubt. The Weekly Content Challenge 2018 gave me a greater impact to be confident in writing. I know there are still so many things I need to improve but if I will not take another step to improve, I would not know my capabilities.

E-mbrace the challenge. When I signed up the Weekly Content Challenge 2018, it was already a go signal for me that there was no turning back. So, I considered that challenge to test how serious I was to commit in writing, and this year, I know there isn't any difference but to be motivated and enduring even more.

S-tay on track. Another commendable thing about the Weekly Content Challenge is the content tracker. I love it when Rome, the organizer, posted the tracker for everyone to see. Additionally, he never failed to remind everyone to submit their post.

S-how that you can do it. The Weekly Content Challenge, as I see it, is a proof of your determination and discipline to write. At the end of day, week, and year, and once the challenge is completed, it is a proof enough that no matter how difficult it was, and how stressful it could get, our greatest take away is that we are more than capable than what we think we are.

So, for everyone of us taking this Weekly Content Challenge, let us keep on blogging and/or vlogging, let us bring the challenge on until the last week of December, 2020.

  3. Thank you for this article. This is so motivating. I've been blogging since 2012, but I can't sustain it. It's like saying I'm loving it and I like to make it a hobby/interest, but I'm not constantly doing it... HAHAHA. There was a time I thought I'll never gonna make it. But here I am - challenging myself. This is my first time joining the Weekly Content Challenge and your SUCCESS model really makes a mark on me. Congratulations! Good luck to us for this year's challenge!

  9. I joined the 2017 edition and finished the challenge from February - December. It was fulfilling to complete it without missing a deadline. I planned to join because I have multiple website and I spent less time on the blog that I submitted. It helps me maintain the sustainability of my content.
