The Little Bali of Cebu: Nerisville and the Selfie Corner

At a glance, you would thought that you were at Wanagiri Garden Hill in Bali, Indonesia. But in the locality of Cebu you will experience the little Bali just right before your very eyes - Nerisville and the Selfie Corner. 

"Overlooking the highlands of Cebu"

It was one humid morning when my friend I decided to visit Nerisville. With enough picturesque views I saw in my newsfeed, they convinced me to see the place for myself. 

The 30-minute habal-habal ride took us to a very simple place in Sitio Bombil, Lusaran, Cebu City. Nerisville is situated just 375 feet MASL hill overlooking the highlands of Cebu. The hot and humid weather somewhat greeted us as we arrived just before lunch.

Then the picture-taking moment begun. We were lucky then that there weren't a lot of people yet in the place. We did not have to wait for a long queue to have our turn for a perfect capture. 

"Here is one made from corn leaves and stalks" 

I even had the chance to enjoy the swing by myself, sat at the chairs while contemplating the mighty mountains at the backdrop and even laid down at the round-shaped chair.

With the right angle, a patient buddy and a camera phone, I must say that each corner offers an Instagrammable photo. Together with nature's element, the blue sky and green mountains, each selfie corner is considered a perfect getaway from the city. 

Getting there and some tips:

1. The moment you arrived from the foot of the hill, you will be greeted with a signboard and a note which states: Do not expect too much. Nerisville is not a park. It is just a Selfie Corner. 

2. Nerisville as I was told was owned by Maria Christina Neris, thus the name, Nerisville. She was there when I visited the place. She took pictures of my friend and me. Grateful for her action. 

3. It is still under renovation. So, I think we could bear with it. During my stay in Nerisville, I was informed that it just opened last September, 2018. 

4. Entrance fee is at 50 pesos each. No official receipt yet. 

5. There were already food stalls in the vicinity - barbecue and other local delicacies. 

6. If you are from Mandaue City, take a jeepney to take you in Talamban. Fare is at 9 pesos. From Talamban, take another one that will take you to Pit-os. Fare at 8 pesos. 

7. Stop at the Flying V Gas Station and look for a queue of motorbikes. Habal-habal ride is at 80 pesos one way. You can ask your kind driver to wait for you while you are Nerisville for a waiting fee of 20 pesos. 

8. The place is quite far. It goes uphill gradually for about 30 minutes. So, be ready to take the ride.
