Mountains. Seas. Festival. Heritage. Tinap-anan. These are the words I can easily link with Danao City, a northern city in Cebu Province. Despite being hailed as the "Gun City", Danao surprised me with overwhelming activities and spots.
The City Plaza and the Heritage Church
Eversince I was young, I could not help myself but be awed by its city plaza. The warm atmosphere makes me think that everybody is welcome. There is always something for everyone. Kids can freely play at the vast playground, teens can stop over for a chat at the seaside and families can get-together for a picnic.
Another structure which I love the most is the Spanish-era church at Sto. Tomas de Villanueva. This heritage church is a strong symbol of Catholic devotion of every Danawanon. Karansa Festival is held every 2nd Sunday of September to honor the Patron Saint.
Tour Around the World
Set in orderly arrangement, there are different miniature representation of famous landmarks of the world located at the seaside of The Sand's Arcade. Various landmarks such as The Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, and Statue of Liberty are simple picture-perfect corner for the locals and tourists. As for me, I had fun taking pictures while I was waiting for my dinner at one of the restaurants in The Sand's Arcade.
What is more to ask in Danao City? Perhaps, the selfie-corner of different mini-world landmarks and palatable foods are enough to convince you to pay Danao City a visit.
"La Vie Parisienne"
Resorts.
From infinity pool of The Palm up to the classy Esperanza BeaCh Resort and even the Hello Kitty-themed pool, Danao City is a getaway place for a holiday. Personally, I had my night spent at Esperanza while dipping in the pool and enjoying my solitary bliss at the beachside.
The Chocolate Hills of Danao City
Danao City continuously suprises me every time I visit her. With my former tourism students, I discovered a new place with a panoramic view of the sea and the hills. The privately owned residential property before the golf course is an inspiring route for residences who want to have a peaceful early morning jog.
With all these in Danao City, I am sure to say that every Danawanon is proud of where they are living. For me, I fell in love with the city and the people there.
For hiking experience, you might want to try Mt. Manghilao.
You can chase multi-layered waterfalls in Barangay Bayabas. Both are located in Danao.
