Destiny at the Retreat House

This blog is not all about my travel experience nor about my social work. This is yet again another story of destiny and human choices.

He Remembered. She Didn't Forget.

It was after our session when I had the courage to ask you out for dinner in a very unlikely situation. I shouted your name and invited you out.

I readied myself with a rejection coming from you but I heard the opposite. You instantly agreed with me.

While eating, you suddenly opened up the conversation.

"Gel, remember when we talked about destiny before?" you asked. I couldn't imagine the surprise I had in my face when you reminded me that. I could vividly remember how you asked me out and fetch me that night. That was beyond magical.

"Do you still believe in destiny?" I asked you back while containing myself.

"Yes, Gel," simply you answered, "because where I am right now is a work of destiny. Do you still remember that you told me that everything is thru human choice? What if that human choice is a work of destiny?"

Then, I answered you back. "Now, I believe in destiny. It was years ago when we met but why do we still ended up together and working a greater cause?"

Finally, you said, "See? This is a work of destiny."

The conversation went on as we we were finishing our dinner while sharing (even against protocols) that lemonade drink. I looked at you; observing you. At that moment, I was blaming destiny for playing a trick on me. For making me that" fangirl" in front of the man whom I was having dinner with. (This is our story: Almost a Love Story. Fangirling Since 2013)

Our Advocacies and Our Outreach

I couldn't be prouder when you took the challenge and even volunteered to help me out. Coordinating with the barangay officials, late night errands and helping me out during the sessions were but only few instances I was and still thankful at. I always send that message to you that all your efforts are appreciated.

I learned so many things from you and about you. How organized and detail-oriented you are and how everything went smoothly during our different sessions. Although there were moments when we didn't agree with our decisions, we always had ways to sort them out in a very calm way.

Stuck in the Island With You

If we were a love story, I would say that we already had the best one ever written. For a girl, being stuck with someone she loves in an island would be one of the most romantic scenes in her life, and I guess, I just ticked that "diary list" when we were stuck in the island for hours because of a stormy weather.

"Calm before the storm"
We were made to wait for a couple of hours for the weather to calm down so we could go back to the mainland safely. However, you instantly erased my worries when you started talking about your travel experiences and telling me jokes. I honestly laughed genuinely. I didn't know that you are a natural talker. Literally, I forgot about the storm and my anxiety. You are truly the best cure!

Can't Help Falling More

As we attended a gathering at the moment. I stared at you in awe. This is absolutely different from what you experienced. You experienced my world. You experienced volunteer works and outreach programs. You even did a session with the kids. You even went on to try my lifestyle - trying vegan food during a celebration.

At that very moment, the retreat house turned into an enchanting venue. It allowed us to talk in a most comfortable manner without any hesitations. Trivial matters, serious ones, and even throw some jokes at each other. Personally, you are the only one I could see in the middle of the crowd.

"Thanks for this photo."
I was on my own self. You were on your own self. You are not the blogger whom I looked up to. You are the person who gave me strength and inspiration to continue the organization's mission and advocacies.

In the middle of the garden was a beautiful fountain. While we stayed there together, I asked you for a coin because I was not bringing anything. Since we didn't have any, I went back at the venue, and went back to you bringing two coins - one for you and one for me.

We closed our eyes, made a wish and threw the coins at the fountain before we went back at the event.

The Night Ride Back Home

Destiny truly worked mysteriously at us. When the rain fell heavily, I was so worried how to get back home. In good faith, you offered to take me for a ride. The evening crept on me, and the dark night added to the cold and worries. I had no choice but to hold you. Indeed, you took care of me. Thank you for keeping me safe.

By the way, when we were at the wishing fountain, I wished to be with you a little longer.

  3. Beautiful! I guess I'm destined to read us and look back on the weird coincidences in my life. I'm quite curios what will destiny give you in the future. I hope I'll be able to read it.

  5. Hi, Gel! Reading through this destiny blog of yours, I think I have met you before. Have you worked with Nexus? I think you were there during our sendoff when I and my students left for our ASEAN Immersion in Singapore.
