Seahorse Boats and Yachts: Cruising the Depths of My Thoughts

The sea breeze lulled me to sleep after attending a series of meetings. I could remember that one fortunate afternoon where the only comfort I had was the huge and fluffy purple bean bag laid comfortably on a net purposely designed as part of the yacht's interior. I knew that we were cruising but amidst all the fun, I slept.

"Cruising towards the bridge while catching the sunset"

By numbers, I had worked for 26 days and 16 or more hours a day. Yes! That prolonged number of hours caused me a lot of sleep debts. Although I am still functional, there are instances when I could no longer hold my eyes, and they voluntarily bring me to my own slumber. Exactly, that one Friday afternoon where I booked my family and relatives for a sunset yacht cruise was that same moment where I had the chance to relax and sleep.

Of Celebration and Get-together

Seahorse Boats and Yachts paved the way to bring my mom's two other siblings and her together. My mom celebrated her 73rd birthday last March 23, 2021, but because I had been busy with work, we all agreed to postpone it by Friday. I was determined to bring them "sisters" together because these three women made so much impact in my life.

"From left to right: Aunty Terry, Aunty Fely, and my Mom"
Ever since I was young, I had been raised and surrounded by my aunts when my mom wasn't around. They never failed to remind and reprimand me every time I needed to make big decisions. Eventually, they are my guardians up until now.

So this time, it was my payback time to treat them something different from their usual holiday routine - eating out with the kids. I could see how these "seniors" were enjoying the experience while boarding the yacht. Their smiles reflected a sparkling admiration and appreciation, and of course, I was one contented soul to see them happy.

Of Decisions and Anxiety

Before I left the office, it dawned in my mind a decision I have to make - to realign myself with my dreams, and purpose; to seek contentment from everything I am doing; and finally, to choose a career that will truly make me happy. Simply, I must make a decision I should not regret in the coming days or even years.

"Weigh the pro's and cons," it was that same thought that crossed in my mind when I was talking with our Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director. These two people whom I look up were talking to me in a very serious note. "I need advice," I told them even before I left the room.

But, I was left hanging. I was left for a week to decide a path that could either make me or break me. So, I left the office room confused, and happy. I was confused because of too many projects I am handling and about to handle. I am happy because they trusted me with those projects. In other words, I was ambivalent - mixed emotions.

My anxiety was starting to build up when I was reminded about the sunset cruise, and my mom and her siblings who were waiting for me. Gladly though, I was able to arrive on time, and had the chance to calm my self even before boarding.

Sunset and Mind-setting

As I narrated earlier, I slept during the cruise. I was on my REM when my younger brother stirred me and woke me up. I was about to tell him how unlikely his timing was when I saw the streak of the crimson sky. The yacht's coordinates were perfectly plotted - we were meters away from the bridge, while the sun was setting at the western horizon. It modestly painted a perfect afternoon transition of the night.

"That moment before I dozed to sleep"
As for me, the sunset reminded me to take a rest and remain calm. I still have a week to decide an important decision - I am not in haste. I shouldn't make impulsive ones, too. Like the setting of the sun, events happened so rapidly but I guess, the night is there to remind us to take a rest, and allow our worries and anxiety to subside. After all, great outcomes were achieved from thorough planning and decision-making. Exactly the same as what I am doing now - weighing things over.

  1. This post reminds me that joining the C3 challenge is one of the best decisions I made in 2021. The C3 participants have given me ideas on what else I should be doing in my life. I have never been on a yacht cruise. I guess I should be planning on trying it on my next vacation :-)
