The lockdown has all of our dreams placed into halt. I, for one, experienced one of the greatest turn-around in this pandemic. From a nurse in the clinical setting (back in General Santos City) up to a nurse in the community setting, I never regretted any single thing brought about by this unexpected event. One related unprecedented getaway was my adventure in Lake Sebu.
"Lake Sebu and its lotus flowers" |
I had gone to Lake Sebu twice but I had never visited its famous lake and its lotus scene. Fortunately, a former colleague from Cebu sent me a message that they were hanging around in Davao. So, I invited her to visit General Santos and maybe, if time permits, have a tour in Lake Sebu. Time was really in our favor that we, indeed, travelled to Lake Sebu.
"At Hikong Alo with Sid and Nic" |
A two-hour and a half ride by van (which is usually not recommended) brought us straight directly to Lake Sebu. It was almost 4 in the afternoon while it started to drizzle. The motorbike drivers advised us to stay overnight because it wouldn't be feasible for us to tour the place.
"Kuya and his mahogany-made banca" |
The morning greeted us with a beautiful sight of the lake. At dawn, I saw a fisherman casting his net in the lake while securing it to one of the fishing poles. Lake Sebu is one of the places that breeds tilapia thus, making it their primary source of living.
Aside from that, the place is something to behold. It has seven waterfalls, caves, and giant lakes backdropped with mountain range. But there is something that truly captivated me in Lake Sebu - its beautiful lotus flowers.
More than ever, I never get tired of coming back to Lake Sebu. The place already meant so much to me. For sure, it wouldn't my last time to be there because there are so many places to visit in Lake Sebu, and by the time this pandemic is over, I will visit Lake Sebu again.
Here is another adventure in Lake Sebu:

ReplyDeleteHahaha.. Wala lingkuranan. Naglingkud ra sa edge sa banca. Actually, scary xakay morock man pero ingon si kuya na nagbusay kay dili jud daw motaob ang banca. Worth the experience gyud.

ReplyDeleteI visited lake sebu back in 2012. We did the zipline but I didn't visited the lake where the lotus are. I think I should visit it again. Thanks for sharing about your experience.
