This is, by far, my first article ever since I relocated in the
southern part of the Philippines. But nothing compares the comfort of one’s
home and so I keep coming back in the Queen City – Cebu. Admittedly, after a
year, I experienced my very first adventure in Cebu Safari and Adventure Park
located in the highlands of Carmen, Cebu Province.
What adventures and attractions await me were far more than I
expected! From the African Savannah down to the unbelievable and nerve-wracking
rides, I could say that Cebu welcomed me with its wildest and most interesting
features.
Welcome to the Wild!
Set at the mountainous area in the Northern Cebu, Cebu Safari and Adventure
Park offers different attractions not solely meant for entertainment but also
for educational purposes. Here are but a few of their attractions:
1. African
Savanna – This unique African Safari ride allows us to have an encounter
with the zebras, antelopes, elands and some other African animals. Personally,
I am appreciative seeing them right in my very eyes. I wouldn’t have to travel
in Africa to see them up close.
"The black and white stripes freely roaming in this habitat."
"Some more African animals"
2. Gardens of the World – Imagine a potpourri
of floras gathered from all over the world in one huge tunnel garden inspired
by different representations in all seven continents and you’d get a magnificent
landscape. And yes, I fell in love with their cacti collection plus their
handful of orchids!
"Some inspiration for your cacti collection"
"...and another garden inspiration..."
3. Michel’s
Garden – Taking a subtle walk in a floral walking trail garden filled with
orchids is something that relaxes a weary heart. This vast orchid garden
features Senyorito’s 40-year-old orchid collection.
"I was told that this is orchid is more than a decade..."
"...another is that hits more than a decade..."
4. White
Lion Safari – In my life, I have never seen a real lion and this ride was
something I truly anticipated. Riding an enclosed safari truck, I watched these
kings lazing in their habitat. The 15-minute ride was enjoyable and fun.
"White lions lazing around during our tour"
5. Aviary Dome – Though not the biggest
aviary I have gone to, I must say that they have different kinds of bird
species. I am always a fan of birds since I was young. I am always fascinated
about their ability to fly, their colourful feathers and more into their instinct
to sense the weather. In the aviary, I saw a variety of these fine-feathered
friends like macaques, cockatoo, and hornbills.
"I couldn't quite remember the name of this bird but this one looks beautiful."
"Our Pretty Feathered-Friend"

Experience the Wild!
As I said earlier, I did not expect that I’d experience sorts of
extreme and adrenaline-pumping rides in Cebu Safari and Adventure Park. I must
say that I am made of outdoor adventures and extreme sports so some endorphin
rush isn’t new to me.
With Cebu Safari and Adventure Park, the rides are truly not for the
faint-hearted as they take the concept of adventure seriously. These are among
the challenging rides adventure-seekers might try:
1. Zipline
Adventure – coined as one of the highest zipline adventures in Asia, this 1.3
km. mechanical zipline is a ride I wouldn’t want to miss. The ride showed me the
aerial view of the entire mountain-forest while zipping to the next end. In my
opinion, the experience was all worth it!
2. Skybike Adventure Ride – I was once
asked after my ride here if I was afraid of heights. Without any hesitation, I
answered, “yes” which was contrary of what people think. Even until these days,
I still get clammy and sweaty skin minutes or even seconds before the
adventure. But the sense of euphoria is much greater than my phobia so I always
volunteer to take the first ride. This absolutely happened with all the three
rides. And this Skybike Adventure finally shuts down my curiosity to its
mechanical or physical ride dynamics.
"Covering my nervousness with this smile"
3. ATV Ride – The concept of
driving on a rocky road and mountain trail had me smirking. Honestly, I had never
tried riding and driving an ATV so I was so eager to drive my way even if it
was a beginner trail. I was edging for either an advanced or extreme trail
actually but nonetheless, the 15-minute all-terrain-vehicle adventure was
already a part of my checked bucketlist.
4. Giant
Swing – No brave soul would say that this ride was boring! With high
affirmation, the giant swing isn’t for the faint-hearted. Believe me, it
will automatically give one a heart attack. Being suspended and swung on the
air for fractions of minutes held my breath and I was speechless for every swing. Well, it was one heck of an exhilarating ride!
"One ultimate ride in Cebu"
"Whew! Am I really ready for this?"
P.S.: Photos in the adventure rides are from Glyth (glitterzcapade) and Ley (thecebuano). Thank you so much!
