I am in love with Olango Island and it is evident of the number of posts I have published in my blog. Throughout the years, I have seen how Olango Island developed. From the eyes of a then-local tourist turned to a weekend traveler up to being a tenporary Olango Island resident for two years, I had learned a lot about living in the island and I was able to adopt the island's culture. It was those two years that made Olango Island closer to my heart.

My Free Lunch at Sta. Rosa
I considered Ate Huling as my foster relative in Olango. I stayed at her house for a couple of months when I was still a public school teacher in Sta. Rosa National High School. With a familiar atmosphere, she gracefully invited my friend and I for lunch while catching up with each other. After thanking Ate Huling, Efraen and I grabbed our bikes and headed towards Sabang. From then, our adventure began.
Asinan Eco-Tourism Park
It was 2014 when I first visited Asinan Eco-Tourism Park. I could remember that I was biking my way towards Sabang when I saw the colorful signage. I didn't hesitate to get in and check the place out. I paid 5-pesos for the entrance fee and proceeded to "suba". Asinan Eco-Tourism Park has become a destination since then. The place is ooen for overnight camping and swimming. In our case, we stopped over for aquarium viewing then off for a refreshing buko juice.

Tungasan Boardwalk: The Lost Tourist Spot
Efraen and I supposedly would be biking back to Sta. Rosa when I told her that we could pass by another barangay after Sabang by taking the other route. Since she agreed, we then went to Barangay Tungasan passing San Isidro I and II. I imagined the Tungasan Boardwalk when I was still living in Olango Island. It extended meters away from the shore overlooking the island of Bohol.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at Tungasan, what remained was a dilapedated wooden bridge. It saddened me for a while. I reminisced the days when I was together with the kids, my friends and my students happily playing and staying at the boardwalk. What was left this time were only memories of the past.
Back in Sta. Rosa
We biked the Eastern part of Olango for two hours before deciding that we needed to go back to Sta. Rosa to be back to the mainland. I must admit that overtime, my body had changed. I used to bike the whole island of Olango for only 5 hours but now, I managed to bike Sabang-Tungasan-Sta. Rosa for two hours before I told myself exhausting myself. Just like Olango Island, its beauty also changed but I hope it will still manage to maintain its natural beauty despite the challenge of change.
