The Act of Hosting: How It Enables Me to Travel

The little girl of 11 was called up one afternoon for a certain task. She was asked to read what seems like a script for an evening event.

Hesitant. Nervous. Ambivalent. She enunciated the words one by one until the mentor told her that she was chosen to be the night's host. That start the ball rolling for a gift she didn't know inherent in her.

That was my story.

It has been two decades since I braved the stage and conquered my fright to face people. Hosting became a part of my life. Hosting becomes me. The little girl has grown up no longer reading the made-up script but leads the audience with her built-in matrix of words.

Out of Town Hosting
Hosting then was a curated experience. My mentors did well with their coaching. I am who I am today because they believed in me. They honed my talent at the early age as I was gaining confidence little by little. - event after event.

Hosting has taken me to different places. Argao, Bantayan, Toledo, and nearby provinces like Leyte and Negros. The splendor of traveling combined with hosting are two surreal experiences which for me subdued as gifts of the universe. Hosting is the pepper of stars in a chromatic gradient of the night. Hosting allows me to twinkle and radiate.

The Reason Why I Host
The wheel of fortune favors the good, the dedicated and the sincere. When I looked back at my experiences, I couldn't help but smile. Behind the made-up face, and my beautiful dresses, is a heart that overflows.
"Even if I had an accident a night before this hosting event, I never backed out because of these kids."

I am always filled with gladness when I witness two hearts in love during a wedding. I become emotional when parents hug their child during a birthday or christening celebration. I get excited whenever a winner is about to be announced. I love it when I become the catalyst of happiness, the connector of people and the binder of great imprints of each event. Hosting livens up the pureness of my soul.

The 8th Habit in Action
We have our voice within us. We have the chance to influence others and become motivators.

From a student, I become the mentor. The chance of building up student's confidence is a heartwarming experience for me. Through hosting workshops, I managed to coach them about Public Speaking and enhanced their Interpersonal skills. I am always filled with gladness whenever a student expresses her/his learning from my workshop.

I Never Stop Learning
My greatest motivator in my life is my mom. She always sees to it that everytime I host, I wear the appropriate dress. I look presentable and most of all, my hosting to become close to perfection. She never stops inspiring and motivating me to become a better version of myself.

Being a teacher helps me as well. The touch of its pedagogy enables me to value people's differences and uniqueness. Dealing with the audience is as if dealing with my students - relatively different but comparatively the same.

The Toastmaster's Club and Public Speaking Workshops continuously enhance my skills. Further, I always humble of the greatest speakers I meet during these occasion while I thirst for new techniques and overall learning.

For twenty years, I am happy to become part of people's important event in their lives. Forever, I always cherish these moments. As John Ford said, "You can speak well if your tongue can deliver the message of your heart."

For workshop in Public Speaking and how to gain self confidence, feel free to contact me. I also do life coaching, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Seminar-Workshop. And of course, I do event hosting.
Here is my narrative to tuning in to self after a hosting event at Bantayan Island: You are still a Beautiful Paradise.
