Contemplating on Life's Purpose at Q-Park

Roman Catholics celebrates the Holy Week every year. It is a depiction of the life of Jesus Christ's discipleship, death and his resurrection. During this week, devotees spend time to reflect and repent on their sins. They even travel to distant places for Via Crucis - following the journey of Jesus to Mt. Calvary.

"It was a worthy uphill climb for this sight."

An immaculate place in the northern part of Cebu is a portrayal of such faith. Q-Park in is a place where Catholics can spend their Holy Week. Located in Buluang, Compostela, Q-Park's accessibility is convenient enough even for the city-dwellers.

Purpose and Destiny in Q-Park
How did I find my purpose and destiny? I rediscover my fate in Q-Park during my Senior High School Recollection. It was an allusion that came to me in a very ordinary form.

Way back 2005, I became a facilitator in a certain university. I could pretty remember my strict mentor. She was a strong woman with conviction. Being trained under her supervision was a delight for me. I was so meek and silent before. Nonetheless, being under her guideship, I became a replica of her - strong and independent.

After 13 years, destiny allowed me to meet a significant person.  She became an instrument for me  to reconnect myself with my purpose. She reminded me about my mentor before. She was a strong woman who values life and education. She stood in front of me with conviction. Her name was Sister Sandra.

I could still not contain my disbelief when I finally talked to her. We shared the same sentiments of students' values and attitudes. By fate, I found out that she was the mentor of my mentor.

Right there and then, I was able to connect these intangible strings. Sister Sandra reminded me of my life's blueprint. My purpose is to pass on the values and attitude that can make the world a better place to live. The simple recollection reawakened my desire to serve and be a good example to others.

On Servant Leadership
For me, the goal of a leader is to serve with the right heart. A heart that is never selfish and unkind. A leader is someone who knows how to govern oneself and ready to serve others. Being an educator for 13 years, I become a servant leader. Sister Sandra reminded me how a heart of a servant leader overflows with love. She saw in me that I have the heart of a volunteer who is willing to serve.
