After a day of seclusion at Agho Island and Bulubadiangan Island, I then traveled to Iloilo City - The City of Love.
"At the facade of Jaro Cathedral, Iloilo"
I could hear the Ilonggo sweet accent resounding in the busy street of the town plaza. Iloilo City might be a highly urbanized city but walking on its streets transported me back in the Spanish time. It was spellbinding. Undoubtedly, Iloilo City shares both the influence of the old and the modern times.
Aside from Iloilo's magnificent infrastructures, the city is also a food haven. It is the home of delicious batchoy and mouth-watering desserts.
And this is how I spent my day before I went back to Cebu.
"A belfry opposite to the National Shrine of the Lady of Candles"
7:45p.m. - I woke up from a deep sleep. I was already feeling stuffy and it was even accompanied by my grumbling stomach. I decided to look for that cafe which my friend recommended. The street during this time wasn't chaotic. There weren't a lot of people passing by. Finally, I arrived at JD Bakery Cafe. I had my chicken dinner and satiated myself with Brazo de Mercedes.
"My evening meal and my slices of Brazo de Mercedes"
10:00p.m. - Since I was up for something steamy and hot soup, I strolled around the market place and found a small kiosk serving soup of native chicken and pork. I was more than satisfied with both of them.
"Hot and steamy pork soup"
"Native chicken soup"
"Batchoy for breakfast"
Early morning the next day, I had my final stroll around Iloilo City. I read about Museo Iloilo but unfortunately, it was closed on a Sunday. Nonetheless, I had my fill of batchoy and puto for breakfast before I traveled back to Cebu.
"Spotted this White Mansion along the road"
"Managed to get only this since the museum was closed"
Something interesting happened in JD Bakery Cafe:
I was wearing the eyeglasses which my friend gave me. It was under my care for three years so sensibly, it had a sentimental value. However though, I left it at JD Bakery Cafe while I was eating dinner.
I later learned about its whereabouts when I was already outside. Luckily, the waiter went outside to hand it to me while I was also on my way inside the cafe.
I was anxious and close to crying because the pair of eyeglasses was my friend's remembrance before we separated ways.
