Maribago has been the center of tourism in Lapu-lapu City since the influx of Koreans and other nationalities visiting the country either for work or leisure has greatly increased for the past years. As the old adage of the law of economics states, the demand must be met with the proportionate supply thus if deduced to a narrower scale, resort hotels, diving shops, massage spas and restaurants are mushrooming all over the town.

As a true-bloom local, I witnessed for two decades the development of the used-to-be fishing village up to one of the travel destinations for both local and foreign tourists, alike. This goes the same with restaurants and businesses that managed to survive and compete in this widely versatile economy. One clearer picture of this is a newly-opened diner.

I happened to pass by an attractive confectioner shop adjacent to a resort hotel and 200 meters away from my house. With pink and purple counter that could be seen through a glass window, it looks pretty and cute for a girl's view point. The walls are half-covered with bricks with a purple outline while near the counter hung an elegant chandelier. As a curious dessert lover, I inquired with excitement what sweets they could serve me. There were only four different kinds of desserts served at that late night so I chose two of each kind to satisfy my sugar-fixated taste buds.

Mango de Abubu was a sensual pleasure though for smoothness wise, the crust looked coarse the same with the Muddy Chocolate. As for the frosting, the sweetness were just right for me though for a real chocolate lover, I should say they would love to have it sweeter. Well enough to compensate, the prices were just so good to be true. It was not all bad when you get a cake with an iced-tea.

Well, if you are in a budget but wanted to taste the velvety feel of pastries and desserts and you managed to drop by in Maribago, here is one great shop to hang-out with. Kim Chai: Sweets and Dine also serves meals, shakes and drinks. They also offer birthday party coordination and makes customized orders for wedding cakes and other celebration/events. As I say it in French, "Manger vous desserts avec plaisir!"
