On Work-Life Balance: Anj Random with Jhud

When I started my Anj Random for People Advocate Channel, I always look forward to meeting millenials and Gen Z's making an impact and difference to others may it be in music, arts, social development, etc. With a lot of toxicity in the social media, I always believe that the more we spread good vibes, content with morals, and inspiration, we can definitely influence the young minds to be kind, to spread positivity, and become advocate to people and for the people.

Work-Life Balance

It has been a year when I shifted my career from being a teacher and a nurse to being a social development worker. Although I didn't have enough background, I learned the ropes in the field from filing cases, attending child conferences up to home visitation. It was a tremendous shift for me that happened in a year.

Why am I talking about work-life balance? It is because for the past months (right after I got sick from COVID-19) I learned to moderately pause and reflect on being somebody who'd never leave one's desk once everything is done. Admittedly, I am workaholic, and enjoys doing more than one job (imagine doing two 8-6pm and a 4-2am job since March).

Now, I am taking it slow and calm. I mean, not exerting too much pressure on me and trying to not accept some more projects, training invitations, and private lessons. Working my way to a more relaxed and more comfortable workload.

What I Learned from Social Development Work?

As a teacher, I learned to mold minds. As nurse, I learned to empathetic. As a social development worker, I learned to become more patient, appreciate the greatness of people, and fight for the rights of children especially to the girls. I learned to be more empowered and to empower girls and women to stand on their rights.

Personally, I opened my eyes to the darkness of the society. I learned the struggles of abused children and the trauma they carry for the rest of their life. More than that, I learned to be more passionate and compassionate.

My Short Chitchat with Sir Jhud

Finally, I had the chance to meet one of my colleagues after since months (I still couldn't believe I managed to go this far), Sir Jhud, whom I truly appreciated the most during the duration of our project because of his dedication to work and still has the time to do other stuff especially yoga.

  6. I’m glad that you’re bringing a spotlight to work-life balance but I hope it doesn’t get misunderstood. People might make excuses so that they don’t work at all so there’s also a balance in that part.
