This GenSan Fun

There is really something in General Santos City that I truly miss the most. Aside from its overwhelming supply of tuna and unlimited side dish of their famous pastil, General Santos City erased my inhibitions of being camera shy.

Today, you wouldn't be seeing so much of pictures but rather short clips with a nurse colleague while we were off duty, and doing "love" hugot clips.

The story was conceptualized from a real life scenario. A fellow had a crush on somehow whose name is "Angel". Since he couldn't articulate his feelings towards her, we made short clips for her hoping that she would notice him.

Well, we only made it to four clips and then we needed to stop since there were personal issues coming from the male actor.

Come on! Please watch those less than a minute skits, and discover an "actress" in me. Lolz!

This first clip was not rehearsed. We were having a class when Mike asked if he could film with me. I politely agreed, and voila! Naturally, I didn't expect the pun!

At this point, we were hiking when Mike decided to shot a short clip. His hugots are old but his delivery was on perfect timing.

Since Mike is a cosplayer, he decided to wear his One Piece Luffy-inspired costume for this clip. Well, I tagged along because that weekend was too boring to stay in the staff house.

Unfortunately, this was the last clip we had until an incident happened. Mike had some personal issues that he asked to no longer make some clips.

The group understood as well as I did. I never uploaded these clips to YouTube for some reasons. Well, this blog could be an exemption.

It was a fun experience though!

  1. GenSan, they are known for their tunas right? I have never been to Mindanao but I have read about their rich culture and I wish to visit some places one day. Glad you had fun in your trip

  2. Did you not miss the intense heat? I can say that GenSan is really a different place compared to Cebu. There are some things that I like and don't like about GenSan (because I was born and raised there). One thing is the removal of jeepneys on the road and been replaced with tricycles. During my childhood, especially when I was still going to school, I commute via jeepney, which would take 5 minutes from home. But I don't know why they have decided to have it fully replaced with tricycles (they swarm the street and cause heavy traffic). I prefer the jeepneys most of the time because it's easy access and it's faster.

One thing is the availability of stores and shops at the mall. It is because 'Generals' that's what you call people from GenSan get hyped easily when a new store or brand comes in, but would easy get used to it that would case the brand's closure. Even local businesses are struggle to please consumers and need to reinvent and innovate almost all of the time (unless you have a wide range of connection) just to make the business running. Even iconic stores from the old times owned by locals already closed because people tend to have a short span of appreciating the idea that the store exists, until it all closes.

But what I like more is the variety of food available and the cold spring at Olaer or Lagare. I miss going to those places especially during vacation. It's also close to Polomolok where you can find the Dole Philippines cannery site. You can have the best fruits in Polomolok due to its climate.

  3. I love skits. We also had several skits when I was still in college. We're not able to upload everything since YT is not a thing before.

  4. Just like the Record of Youth, your miniseries is so bitin, Anj! Hahaha. It was fun though and the echuserang palaka in me is curious about what could have stopped the Angelab series. I do feel like GenSan really means so much to you. :)
