Tagbilaran City and Learning to Learn

When I stopped working at school, it didn't mean that I stopped learning and honing my profession. I continuously seek to learn new things despite my resignation. I only ended my service to my employer but never my thirst of learning.
"Welcoming myself in the city of Tagbilaran"

My mom had me choose between two dates for a National Workshop-Seminar, I immediatey told her that I'd rather choose Bohol over Cebu. I convinced her that I'd be attending the Workshop in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

August 25-27, 2018. Tagbilaran City would be my home for the next three days. My traveler instinct trotted with glee. I could sense my mom worried about me since she never saw me prepared. But then, through the years of traveling, I am pretty sure of its ABC's.

Readied backpack with my three-day outfits for the seminar. Booked accommodation. Informed-facilitator about my arrival. Well-thought out ETA's and ETD's fro and to Cebu-Tagbilaran. Basically, everything was prepared.
"You know you are at JJ's with this obvious sign"

"At JJ's Seafood Village lobby"

"It has its own swimming pool."

I arrived at JJ's Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City at 1pm. The speaker received me with a smile and even offered me lunch. After registration, I then enjoyed listening and interacting with the rest of the participants.
"Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Statue of Christopher Columbus"

At 5pm, I walked my way towards Oasis Balili House Lodge. It is a 1920's Heritage House 50 meters away from Christopher Columbus' statue. It is a little turn to the left from the Celestino Gallarte St. The house is going to be my abode for tonight.
"Oasis Garden Heritage Lodge's façade"

The early evening suprised me with a downpour. I was sitting at the porch of the house while eating my snacks when a group of foreigners decided to go out. The lodge's owner asked me if I wanted to come with them. I did join them for dinner at Al Fresco Italian Restaurant.

Without the tempting social media and a genuine conversation from different nationalities, I think I am enjoying my solitude  and learning here in Bohol. For sure, I would be a whole lot different from who I was during my stressful days at work two months ago. With all retuning and destressing, it is a syzygy of my real well-being.

Updates about Tagbilaran Travel:
1. Since I am from Lapu-Lapu City, the quickest route for me is to board the Metroferry going to Pier 3. Fare at 12 pesos with a terminal fee of 1 peso.
2. Walk from Pier 3 to Pier 1. Oceanjet and Supercat offer hourly trips starting 6a.m. until 9p.m. Open air ticket costs 450 pesos.
3. JJ Seafood Village is a restaurant-hotel and a good venue for conference. This is where our National Workshop-Seminar for Teachers are held. It is just a 10-minute walk from the wharf.
4. I stayed at Oasis Balili House Lodge. Just 4 minutes away from JJ Seafood. It's mixed fan room costs 475 pesos and mixed aircon room is at 530. I stayed at a fan room.
5. Al Fresco Italian Restaurant is a mid-range restaurant which serves brick oven-baked pizzas. It also serves ala carte pastas and other stuff. Price ranges from 180-350 pesos.

One highlight I wanted to share about the Seminar was the 21st Century Skills for the teachers to possess:
1. Collaboration
2. Communication
3. Creativity
4. Critical Thinking

In addition to the four, the 5th and the 6th skills are Choice and Caring, respectively. In a classroom set-up, teachers become facilitators of learning. They pulled out from the stage and allow their students to shine and make guided choices. Above all, teachers practice the decisional-love of their students. The Caring attitude of teachers will forever be remembered by the students.
