He grabbed my wrist and led me to the left wing of the ferry terminal.
I looked at him questioningly because I didn’t know what else he would do to
me.
“Angel,” he was holding my shoulders with his hands while gazing at me
intensely. I fell silent – unable to utter a single word.
With that quick movement, I felt a sweet sensation. He hugged me
tightly that I could hardly breathe.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked him confused of his gestures.
"The Financial Park is adjacent to the Mall where we headed first."
|
“I couldn’t forget the days we were together. You are a very special girl to me…” he whispered still circling his arms around me. I remained speechless. I didn’t know what else to say.
The emotion heightened when he swiftly landed a kiss on me. It was smooth. It was gentle. It was sincere.

I wanted to cry. I wanted to tell him that he was confusing me.
“Please come back, Angel,” it was his last words before I boarded the
ferry back to Kota Kinabalu.
"We then went to a park just near the beach."
"I strolled further and I saw this memorial at the park." |
"Later on, I found out that the park is the Surrender Point of Japanese soldiers during War World II."
The guy I was referring to was the complete stranger who approached me
on my second day in Malaysia. He was that guy who smiled at me at the boulevard
thinking that I was Malaysian. The same guy who taught me some Bahasa words
which became handy whenever I went out of my own. It was this guy who treated
me kindly for the rest of my stay in Labuan Island.
"Looking at the view makes me not to leave Labuan Island yet."
“Thank you,” it was all I could tell him while deep inside, my heart was
breaking into pieces. The young man who was 4 years younger than me treated me
so special that seeing him sad brought me in a state of dilemma. I was beyond
grateful though that the ferry finally blew its last signal that I was saved
from tears.
Inside the ferry, I could not stop myself from being emotional. I
spent great days in Labuan not to mention being safe and secure because of him.
I appreciated all his efforts and even skipped his job just to meet me. Then
everything came into a flash while I struggled to steady my emotion going back
to Kota Kinabalu.
The last few hours of my journey before leaving Labuan Island were
totally a perfect gateway.
"It was so festive when we arrived in Labuan Island's Sea Sport Complex."
"Some sea creatures inside the Sea Sport Complex."
"Another one, a lionfish that camouflage the sea pebbles..."
"A skeleton of a Bryde's Whale"
He toured me around the Labuan Mall and Financial Park. We had a great
deal of chitchat before we headed to the Surrender Point Memorial. Then, I had
the last stroll at the beach and finally, had an amazing time at the Labuan
International Sea Sport Complex.
"At the background, is the replica of the Atkinson Clock Tower."
"This replica of the Atkinson Clock Tower in Labuan Island left me a memory I will cherish forever."
Everything wouldn’t be possible without the stranger’s help.
To read about how I got to know this stranger, I wrote our story in "The Atkinson Clock Tower and the Stranger."
