Chikaan: Come Home to Great-tasting Tradition

We, Filipinos, are truly family-oriented. Since time immemorial, we preserve this deep-rooted tradition. We always think not only for our immediate family but up to the extended levels. The kind of warmth and care clearly manifested through gatherings - baptism, birthdays, and weddings. This kind of family bonding exists up to the modern days.

For a rendezvous of these gatherings, Chikaan is a place families would mostly consider. This Filipino-oriented restaurant serves authentic Filipino food. Especially for a family homecoming after long years of working abroad, then one wouldn't want to miss out
Chikaan's bestsellers! Let us come home to these Filipino great-tasting dishes and relive the tradition.

Served in a big bowl and loaded with pechay, and lukot Sea Hare's eggs. Chikaan's Clam Soup is a good choice for a family gathering. The clear, hot liquid soup has just the right subtle taste. The clams are appetizingly big for a reasonably affordable price. (145 pesos good for 5-6 serving)

Pancit Guisado is an ubiqitous dish in every family gathering. Filipinos think that the strands of the noodles significantly represent a long lasting life. Chikaan serves Pancit Guisado. The glistening look of the noodles garnished with vegetables, seafood and meat is alreay a meal, itself. It personally catches every Filipino palate. (Serving is at 155 good for 5-6 diners)

Pork Adobo is a trademark for Filipinos. In fact, different provinces have different ways to prepare it. In Chikaan, Pork Adobo has remarkably less soy sauce. Though it tastes a bit salty and its meat is tender. (Serving 179).

Unfortunately, its Lumpia Shanghai has a thick wrap with less stuffed ground pork in it. These spring rolls are midgets and cute with sweet and sour dip. (Serving 179 pesos)

Another famous food for Filipino is Beef Kaldereta. It is served anywhere from an ordinary "carenderia" or local food kiosks up to some classy Filipino restaurants. Chikaan's Beef Kaldereta looks presentable. It is kept heated even when it is  served. The stewed beef has just the right kind of tenderness however, the carrots and some other vegetables are somewhat hard. The stew almost has a bland taste. (Serving 168)

Most restaurants prepare Baked Scallop. This seafood shell is always a star in every Filipino restaurants.  Chikaan also prepares Baked Scallop. It looks creamy and cheesy but in this place it tastes overbaked; and its cheese overpowers the scallop meat. (Serving 155)

Chikaan's bestseller is its Crispy Pata (regular or large). The crisp pork skin is a satisfaction.  Its Crispy Pata is absolutely a toothsome meal. Highly recommended! (Serving 369 for a regular crispy pata)

The Cucumber Lemonade is a thirst quencher. The refreshing flavor and thin slices of cucumber goes pleasingly well with  lemonade. Pinipig Delight is not a conventional dessert prepared in other Filipino restaurants. It is shaved ice with milk and latik. Though at first it may taste peculiar but it pretty tickles your palate.  A must-try! (Cucumber Lemonade in a Pitcher 185 and Pinipig Delight 55)

Well, whatever dish that suits a family members' taste. Chikaan always extends its warmth to every diner. The food servers are happy to take your orders. Their is also the essence of a Filipino depiction through their wooden chairs and tables. It really looks traditionally acceptable. A great place to dine in for a crowd called, "family" and do what Filipinos usually do, "chikaan" (to talk with interest).
